Jag fick i uppgift att skriva för ett nyhetsblad vad jag gör i relativt enkla termer. Det här är det jag gör i relativt enkla termer:

Abstract

Currently our understanding of the global carbon budget for the ocean is severely limited and it is not even clear weather or not the ocean is net heterotrophic or net autotrophic (although the latter is the least controversial answer). My work is an attempt to answer this fundamental question or at least investigate one possible method for doing so. In the process of answering this question four different models where developed, which are in themselves interesting. The first is a model of Zooplankton biomass (in press JMS), second a model of the pelagic community structure (carbon flow), third a primary production model (carbon uptake) and finally a respiration model (carbon release).

The models are robust when compared with in-situ data and the results enables, on a global scale; the production of climatologies, spatial and temporal analysis of; community structure, metabolism (uptake / release of carbon and P:R ratios) and metabolic balance of the global ocean.
